Description

Provides supports to the building of research capacity and collaborative partnerships with communities and research organizations. Maintains and strengthens interdepartmental support and information sharing across the organization as well as with health system partners. Offers technical and functional support to grant funded research projects. Ensures close communication and project coordination for research project teams.

  1. Promotes best practices in Indigenous research and assist researchers with engaging and collaborating with communities in respectful and meaningful ways
  2. Supports the implementation of the FNHA research and policy agenda's by generating research projects and conducting knowledge exchange activities to address health priorities
  3. Coordinates research projects and teams; assists in proposal writing and the collection/analysis and interpretation of data for reporting and knowledge translation activities
  4. Compiles and maintains an inventory of active research projects in the province
  5. Liaises with partners and academic institutions to build organizational research capacity
  6. Prepares grant applications to the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) and other funding institutions, including applications with internal and external partners
  7. Contributes to the development and administration of research ethics processes within the FNHA
  8. Represents FNHA and participates in multi-disciplinary project teams/working groups
  9. Provides interdepartmental support and information sharing across the organization and with Tripartite partners
  10. Works in collaboration with FNHA's regional offices to conduct community engagement related community research priorities and continued involvement in research
  11. Provides status, verbal or written reports at frequencies determined by management and in the format requested
  12. Participates on internal and/or external committees as required
  13. Performs other related duties as assigned
Agreement
Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's Degree with a specialization in Public Health, Public Policy, Health Information Management/Sciences, Research Methods or Aboriginal/Indigenous Governance, plus 3-5 years of experience in research, analysis, grant writing and multi-jurisdictional partnerships or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience
  • A Master's degree would be an asset

 

 

Preferred Skills
  • Experience in qualitative and quantitative research methodologies
  • Experience in the use of Microsoft Office suite of software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Experience working with First Nations/Aboriginal people in health is an asset
