Description

Portfolio Management Team that creates quality-focused, risk managed long-only equity portfolios, mostly for institutional clients, is seeking an experienced Equity Analyst. The team takes an long term approach to investing, and considers companies of any size that generate attractive returns, offer sustainable growth, and trade at valuations that offer upside. Working as part of a team of analysts, which generates and analyzes ideas across geographic markets, the Analyst will have a clear coverage focus and direct impact on over $8 billion of assets. The Analyst will be measured on her/his individual contribution to portfolio performance – whether achieved via allocation or by stock selection.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain coverage of a specific segment of the portfolio – follow the companies, their activities, their results and the valuation and make recommendations around current positions
  • Generate new investment ideas (whether buy or sell) to add performance and/or control risk
  • Conduct primary analysis, maintain dialog with management teams and sell-side analysts, and keep models up to date.
  • Assist team in identifying areas of opportunity, and/or risk, in order to improve overall performance
  • Support team in marketing efforts – internally and with clients/gatekeepers
  • Willingness to travel – for site visits, competitor analysis and investment conferences

Qualifications

 

  • Advanced degree and/or CFA designation preferred

 

Preferred Skills
  • 5-10 years of experience in financial analysis required
  • In depth knowledge of one or two sectors/industries (the exact ones are of less importance)
  • Willingness to engage in informed debate around investment ideas as part of the investment team
  • Strong written and verbal communication are critical – as is the ability to move on after failing to convince the team of a point of view
  • Foreign language or work experience a major plus, as is work experience outside of financial firms/financial analysis
