Regular Full-time Limited Duration, Pay Grade 43, Salary DOE&Q

This position is as a limited duration one-year position funded by ORNL and with a possibility of renewal at the sponsor’s discretion.

The position will promote the Baker Center and Institute for Nuclear Security’s (HBC-INS) and mission by pursuing external funding related to the INSEP (program) in conjunction and parallel with ORNL. Providing the international technical expertise specifically in Safeguards and Security to fulfill the INSEP portfolio requirements. Ability to interact with varied research teams, media, and clients is expected.

  • Master’s degree in Nuclear Engineering with focus in Nuclear Nonproliferation.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience.

Preferred Skills
  • Duties of this position are to provide technical support under the International Nuclear Safeguards Engagement Program (INSEP) portfolio at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL).
  • The position involves planning and organizing regional workshops; developing technical programs, providing input to logistics coordinators, engaging other support organizations (eg National Laboratories, Universities, etc.) and monitoring schedules and deliverables.
  • The position also requires supporting other technical meetings and workshops: support in planning and organizing international missions and workshops; and coordination of international point-of-contacts; the position will required background papers and studies; Department of Energy requested reports (e.g., quarterly status reports); press releases, conference papers and presentations.
  • Additionally, the position will assist ORNL in strategy development for various international countries within the INSEP portfolio region and identifying new partner countries and activities.
  • Ability to interact with international participants and country leadership in the nuclear and radiological field is required.
